Broad-leaved dock: start small, end big.

Broad-leaved dock (Rumex obtusifolius) is the most widespread problem species in grassland in the Benelux. One plant produces up to 60,000 seeds per year and spreads via rhizomes. A small patch missed for one season can already cover several square metres by the next spring. Grassland also has two critical detection windows per year: early spring before the first cut, and autumn after the last cut, the moment when the problem weeds are most visible.

Broad-leaved dock (Rumex obtusifolius), common sorrel (Rumex acetosa), creeping thistle (Cirsium arvense), spear thistle (Cirsium vulgare), creeping buttercup (Ranunculus repens), nettle, couch grass (on reseeded fields).

Spring (Mar–Apr): problem weeds visible before the first cut, optimal for early intervention. Autumn (Aug–Oct): after the last cut the patches are maximally visible without a crop disturbing the image, an ideal moment for drone detection.
